Super boot
I was a bit skeptical about ordering a boot online from a manufacturer whose boots I'd never tried on. I knew I needed a wide fitting as my Hanwags were also wide so I decided to give it a try.
I need not have worried. The Salewa MS Condor Evo GTX fitted as if they had been made for me.
They came yesterday afternoon and after walking around the house for 20 minutes in them to be sure that the fit was right I decided to give them a quick test in the hills.
So at first light this morning I grabbed the dogs and set off. It was only a short 8km hike but over very varied terrain, from soft woodland paths to steep uphill rocky stages and ending with a steep downhill scree field.
The boots came up trumps. Their light weight was the first thing that I noticed, this made me feel like hopping across some rocky areas which I wouldn't have even thought of doing in my other boots. The sole is very grippy, even sticking well on some of the smallest toes holds. They even seemed very comfortable, which for a new pair of boots is really good as normally it takes a couple of weeks until I feel good in new shoes. The shaft seems nice and firm due to the nice lace set up but is still flexible enough to offer a good degree of maneuverability.
In the woods where the going was very soft they did seem a little wobbly compared to my old boots but then they are also a tick higher.
Unfortunately it was not cold or wet this morning so I cannot comment on their waterproofing or sole insulation.
These boots were recommended to me by a friend and I have to say I would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone who needs a quality pair of medium performance boots at a very reasonable price.
